December 23, 2021
Today we were notified by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit of an additional COVID-19 case at St. Elizabeth. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has now declared this an outbreak. The situation meets the criteria for a school outbreak set by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.
What is an Outbreak?
The Ministry of Education defines an Outbreak as: two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students or staff (or other visitors) in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school (including transportation and before or after school care).
What does this mean?
- The school is currently closed for the holidays and the impacted cohort has been previously contacted and continues to be in contact with public health.
Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this time.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has identified a COVID-19 case associated with St. Elizabeth School.
Parents, Guardians and Staff of these cohorts have been contacted by members of TBCDSB.
A thorough cleaning and disinfection process is underway within the school. This deep clean will be performed by a third party, which entails disinfectant fogging.
Privacy is extremely important to us, our staff and our families. The identity of the positive case will not be disclosed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
We are a community who together try to live out our mission statement: to foster the growth of each child emotionally, spiritually, academically and physically in a Christ-Centred environment, where the acceptance of diversity and a respect for the uniqueness of God’s creation are integrated into the total curriculum.
We work together to be a positive Christian influence in the school community of St. Elizabeth.
Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah, the mother of John the Baptist and cousin of Mary.
