To our Graduates
Dear 2020 Graduates and families,
Over the past weeks our Board, our high schools and graduation committees have been working together, discussing celebratory activities for your graduating class. Unfortunately, due to the continued risks and guidelines associated with Covid-19, it is necessary for our high schools to revise customary graduation commencements and activities. As a result, the traditional convocation held at the auditorium and prom, will be postponed with the possibility of rescheduling if physical distancing guidelines permit. The Board is committed to seeking creative solutions to recognize you, by the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
St. Ignatius High School has tentatively set June 24th for virtual graduation activities followed by St. Patrick High School on June 25th. Information regarding the specifics around the planned activities will be communicated through each school as plans evolve. Be assured that our high schools are making these plans in consultation with the Health Unit ensuring all activities follow proper safety precautions. COVID-19 has inhibited many plans for everyone; and schools are no exception.
Given the limitations and restrictions in place, virtual graduation activities will also include a prayer service in conjunction with our Diocese. Many supporters of our Awards Trust Fund have committed donations, and you will benefit as previous graduating classes have, with awards and bursaries to support you in your post secondary endeavours.
We will recognize you, your accomplishments and your future successes. This is your senior year, and we will do everything we can to ensure that it is special and memorable.
