Asynchronous Learning occurs through online channels without real-time interaction. Students will learn the same material at different times and locations. Asynchronous learning may involve pre-recorded video lessons, completing assigned tasks, or contributing to online discussion boards.

A cohort is a group of people banded together or treated as a group: a cohort of students in a class.

Learn at Home is the formal title of remote/distance learning: it is online learning that happens at home, not physically in a school classroom. Learn at Home classes can be either synchronous or asynchronous.

Synchronous learning refers to a learning event in which a group of students are engaging in learning at the same time. Synchronous learning involves using text, video, or voice communication to allow educators to teach and connect with students in real-time. It helps teachers offer immediate feedback to students and provides students with an opportunity to interact with one another – like they would if they were at school.

The word quadmester or quadrimester is occasionally used to mean either four months or a quarter of a year. High school students will participate in a quadmester, rather than traditional semesters (2).
